For me, the vintage industrial look is perfection. So what does that say about me? Well it’s sure not soft and girly. I am quite romantic, but when it comes to this I guess I think the look is a little guarded, kind of sad but beautiful –and you know there is a story there. Some long, dark night working in the garage on something really important…i don’t know but to me it means hard work, strong, practical, efficient, simple, no nonsense….what does the look say to you?
Tuesday night I watched the Adjustment Bureau and have been thinking about it ever since. I really liked the movie, the concept, the story, the take on free-will and higher powers…I have always loved Matt Damon. No complaints there… And one more viewing bonus: Damon’s character’s loft. Loved it.

I find myself looking around all the time at home, trying to decide which wall to cover in the soft black paint, imagining the words and the pictures greeting me each day and changing with our moods. I love the way the black and chalk look kind of vintage but compliment very modern spaces.
And I love how lettering looks in general, not to mention the messages the words convey- words that motivate or comfort us, remind us to get the dry cleaning or of an exciting date… all the while weaving in and out of our doodles and spontaneous art, easily changed and reminding us that nothing lasts forever.

What do you think about a chalkboard painted wall in your home? Maybe your office? Or the local bar or coffee shop? How about outside? I love this example in a park:
Benjamin Moore makes a version of the paint, which can be found here if you are dying to give this a try!
