After our Interior Finishes and Materials final exam yesterday, we walked over to the Herman Miller showroom at One Kearny and got a little history about the company and a look around their space on the 9th floor. We were also escorted up to the private 11th floor, which is a newly remodeled retreat or conference space rented out by the owner of the building and full of great Herman Miller pieces.
I had to head back out to Bayview this morning to get a mirror on my car fixed. While I was waiting, I stumbled into Flora Grubb for some coffee and immediately I was taken by the beauty of the grounds, especially inspiring bathed in the early San Francisco morning sun. I cannot wait to go back and do a little shopping. Besides the amazing plants and great coffee (it was Ritual!), my favorite part was the kitty sleeping in the sun. So all and all, I guess I’m glad my mirror broke because I finally made it in here and I had a nice morning. Enjoy my pictures and make sure to check out the Flora Grubb Gardens website! xo

Below are a few pics from Saturday, when my boyfriend gave the front of Flax some Golden Gate love! (The iconic bridge’s 75th anniversary is fast approaching!) You can check out Mel’s art archives here, or if you’re feeling really frisky, go get a tattoo from him and the boys at Dean’s Tattoo Headquarters!
I’m neck deep in paper, it’s nowhere near 5 and I’m feeling a little extra love for my Blue Bottle Coffee today. Now, if only it were Friday…
Yesterday was a lovely February San Francisco day (today’s not bad either!) and I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon at the San Francisco Design Center, amidst the Design San Francisco event and the winter market. First I toured the lovely Baker showroom. Then I sat in on an inspiring and very informational panel discussion regarding licensing versus manufacturing furniture and the likes. Finally, I strolled the grounds of Restoration Hardware, wine in hand…lovely event, wonderful design center! Here’s to San Francisco and good design…enjoy my humble photos.
Today is another cold, dark, wet one in SF. Football is in the air and I suspect many of us are off with family or friends watching the game. I spent my morning with my wonderful boyfriend and the afternoon with a Reiki energy worker in the Marina.
I was drawn to the idea of energy work, after a referral from a good friend, almost immediately because I, like many of us perhaps, feel a little (or a lot) ‘stuck’ in certain areas. After an insightful (and tearful) session, I am happy to say I home home safe and sound, happily working away on projects that really do inspire me. I was reminded to let, and will continue to work on letting, that precious light inside myself shine. These winter months are for embracing the quiet, reflective time inside and I will certainly turn to my home, my sancturary, for some comfort and guidance. Candles are lit, sage is burning. Happy ‘Sun’day my friends. xo
