Because it’s never too soon for another black and white blog post!
Great light fixture in a lovely black and white Nordic residence.
Loving this black and white kitchen and softly colored details. Love, love, love the light blue pendant.
Here, industrial details mix wonderfully with the elegance of sharp black and pink.
This uncluttered office space has just enough black peppered in for contrast. Love, love the floors.
This is just a dog I want, bad. Happy Monday friends. xo, co
Green is nature’s color and represents health and growth. It also has a calming effect on the human brain– Celebrities waiting to go out to a TV interview often wait in a ‘green room’ to calm nerves, and mint green is the choice for many hospital rooms because of the proven calming effect it has on patients. Personally, I just like this kitchen….and you’re less likely to overeat around the color green, unlike it’s compliment, red, which is very stimulating.
In the spirit of the darker days of autumn and winter, I picked out some of my favorite ‘dark rooms’ to share. Glamorous and bold, intense, mysterious and sharp… how does black in interiors make you feel?
Today marks the 6 year anniversary of my dad’s passing and so I’m writing about clocks. Any of you who knew him know why- my dad loved clocks. And watches. And pocket watches. He would often browse flea markets and garage sales for them, constructing cases for the smaller pieces, winding daily the larger ones. If he was still around I might inquire a little deeper into this fascination of his…watching time, when it doesn’t even really exist unless we do….
My mom is of the opinion that it is very cool to find little artistic spins on everyday mundane things- salt and pepper shakers, staplers….wall clocks? I agree. I looked around a little and came up with two favorites: A chalkboard kitchen clock at Terrain (surprised?) and the “twice once clock” by designer Jonas Damon.
Inspired by traditional railway clocks, you mount the twice once clock (fun to say, too) on a wall, rendering it visible from either approaching direction; two clocks that actually operate independently of each other. (And now that I am thinking about it, I recently saw this clock hanging in a restaurant somewhere and commented then how much I liked it… where was that?!)
love you, dad. xo, co
Did I mention I love the Giants?! However, I have to admit I have never really welcomed orange into my favorite color club. Red-orange? Yes. Yellow-orange? Maybe. Orange-orange? Ehh, I’m trying.
What do you think about the use of various oranges with blacks in these interior spaces?
White seems to be present in all the examples shown, and I think it’s an important balancing factor with a color as strong as orange.
Love it? Hate it? Is it better in small doses? Or should we just leave black and orange to the Giants? Beat L.A.!!
