Today’s cold weather has chairs empty and the streets quiet…I don’t mind the chill or the fog, though. It reminds me of childhood; it’s familiar. It feels like home. I find it comforting. Anyway, I enjoyed the quiet streets today- I went for a good 45 minute walk doing work errands- but then promptly brought my coffee and scone back upstairs, next to my heater, where I belong. xo

Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries

Oh hello delicious and easy, nice to meet you! Loved this so much, thought I’d share:

Via The Sweets Life (thesweetslife.com)

Ingredients:
-1 lb large strawberries
-8 oz. cream cheese, softened (can use 1/3 less fat)
-3-4 tbsp powdered sugar (4 tbsp for a sweeter filling)
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-graham cracker crumbs

Directions:
1. Rinse strawberries and cut around the top of the strawberry. Remove the top and clean out with a paring knife, if necessary (some may already be hollow inside). Prep all strawberries and set aside.
2. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Add cream cheese mix to a piping bag or ziploc with the corner snipped off. Fill strawberries with cheesecake mixture. Once strawberries are filled, dip the top in graham cracker crumbs. If not serving immediately, refrigerate until serving.

Fav SF Soups

Okay, for SF, it’s getting cold! I know it doesn’t even compare to dropping temperatures elsewhere, but it is enough to get me in a soup mood, and often. Here, in no particular order, are five of my very favorite soups here in the city:

1) The Spicy Chicken Tortilla Soup at Little Chihuahua

2) Any soup Bar Jules makes- they are different often, depending on what is available and in season. Today’s is potato and rapine soup with horseradish creme fraiche. mmmmmmmmm…

3) The Po Tak ( a spicy and sour soup with seafood, lemongrass, basil, straw mushroom, fresh chili, red  and green onion and galanga that my boyfriend and I refer to as “The Miracle Soup” because one sip seems to stop any oncoming cold) at Thai House Express

4) Nopolito‘s Caldo Tlalpeño

5) The Chicken Pho at OTD. And I’m not quite sure if it counts as soup, but I can’t pass up their Chicken Porridge, either!

What’s your favorite SF soup spot? Do you have a favorite recipe you make at home? Please share, I can’t get enough of this stuff!! xo, co

But First, Coffee.

Pizzetta 211

This afternoon, I had a wonderful lunch with my mom at Pizzetta 211 in the Richmond- complete with salad, pizza, 2 desserts and blue bottle espresso. It was wonderful. If you’re ever in the  neighborhood, definitely get in there- always a treat!
